|Peak:||Mt. Evans (14er)|
|Date of Information:||05/26/2012|
We started from the parking lot at Summit Lake taking route 10 straight up to the summit along the northeast ridge. There was a fair amount of snow in some placed no more than about a foot deep for the first 3/4 of a mile. we left the parking lot about 6:15 am the temperature was low enough (35 F) the snow was still frozen and easily hike-able without the need for snow shoes. As we neared the summit snow became a deeper and we found ourselves waist-deep in some spots as the sun began warming. We enjoyed lunch at the top and temps warmed to about 43. On our decent we chose to take the northeast face from the summit parking lot to the road below. There was little snow on this path.
