Snow and ice patches the whole way up. Most are avoidable but some take more creativity. No need for spikes or snow shoes yet. Take care going over the icy spots - slippery!

Spikes     2012-11-07 19:16:17
Sure, but then they'd be taking them on/off or just wearing them in the dirt. I brought my spikes but was just careful instead of stopping to put them on/off... Spikes on rocks = fingernails on chalkboard to me!

Oh, gotcha. I was under the impression the trail was consistently snowy and/or icy. I was on Pikes' Northwest Slopes Route today (which has maybe a quarter mile of snow on all 6 something miles of the route), and saw a fella climbing up in spikes and shorts through the dirt. On the way down, I was amazed to see his spikes' tracks in the dirt for MILES

Spikes time soon     2012-11-07 20:33:04
I've thought about using mine to help me keep from slipping in mud! I bet after this Friday it'll be time for snowshoes and spikes
