Very little snow above 12,000'. I was hoping for the elusive west slopes summit snowboard descent after recent snow cycles. Oh well. Approached from Grant side. Lots of snow below treeline and some great, although avalanche prone snow conditions over in the old Guanella pass ski area. I did not see any avy activity but lots of whumping and cracking. The picture was taken from the top of Guanella pass ski area.

How far could you drive up to the Guanella Pass summit? From which side...Grant?

I came from Grant. I parked about 4 miles below the pass on that side and skinned from there. I was driving a Chevy Blazer and did not want to push it. Access is much easier and shorter from the Georgtown side. The picture was taken from the top of the old Guanella pass ski area.

Yeah I did not want to be the guy posting that people could make it farther and then have someone get stuck but I am not surprised to hear that you made it farther. I was solo so digging my car out would have been a more challenging situation and hey, I figured I could use the exercise.

We made it to the Duck lake road closure but got stuck twice in 4runner. Dug the car out with no problem though.
