|Peak:||Uncompahgre Peak (14er)|
|Route:||South Ridge from Nellie Creek|
|Date of Information:||06/04/2011|
As stated in the TH updates, the road is clear to about 200 yards below the 2nd creek crossing (or slightly less than 2 miles from the summer trailhead). Beyond this there are about 3 or 4 sizeable drifts otherwise, pretty dry road to about 1/2 mile below the summer trailhead (just above the open meadow). From here, large drifts are in the trees and probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Route from the summer trailhead is mostly snow to treeline with minimal patches of dirt in some areas. Treeline to the saddle at 13,800' is completely snow with minimal patches of dirt. The "standard" route right now is a straight line to the saddle, instead of traversing to the south and up the ridge. From the saddle there are a few small snow fields to traverse to the gully, which is dry. Top of the gully to the summit is 50/50 snow/dry. Summit plateau is fully dry. I can PM picture (from another computer) as some point if anyone is interested.
