We descended the Keyhole in late July last year (a pretty high snow year), and it was totally snow–free, just a couple of small ice patches in the Trough that were very easy to avoid. Would be highly surprised this year would be vastly different. Good luck!
How hard was it to find the route & were you able to summit? What winter gear did you need – spikes, snowshoes etc? Debating a snowy attempt on Saturday (and keeping an eye on these storms!).
Yes, we summited. The route was not too difficult but you need to be careful especially on the Ledges as the snow was sloppy, and there was ice in place. We used full crampons (not microspikes) and ice axes. No snowshoes
