It was a phenomenal day on Longs. We only encountered ice once when my friend went off-route in the Trough, none if you stay on route. Timed it well, getting to the boulder field at 6:30am, right when it was getting light. Temps were nice.

Sidenote: not many aspens have started to change color yet, but a lot of the shrubbery & bushes above treeline has turned dark browns/reds/yellows and is quite pretty.

Sidenote 2: saw cars getting ticketed at the parking lot for sticking out 1 or 2 feet into no-parking areas, so don't do that.

I too climbed Longs on Saturday but I left the parking lot when you arrived. Departed at 1315, keyhole at 1603, reached the summit at 1735, back at the trail head at 2150. I had the top to myself and 4 climbers who started around 0530 that morning. It was a gorgeous day, hardly a cloud in the sky. The wind was almost non–existent for 14k! I estimate that it never gusted to more than 15knots. The windiest spot was heading down after the boulder field, still not bad. Ice is no issue unless you try to climb the ice fall to the right in the trough. Sunset at the keyhole was beautiful.
