Three of us hiked Himboldt today and all agreed snowshoes were NOT nessacary. We used Microspikes for most of the hike (except above tree line) and were glad we had them. Windy most of the day, took us just under 10 hours round trip including all stops/breaks and summit time. Great packed easy to follow trail in place. About a dozen people total on the mountain. Don't bother trying to drive past the 2wd trail head.

Thank you for your condition update. The route really is amazingly heavily traveled. Another 7 were on the mountain today. One of them requested close-ups of the Crestones from the summit, so here are Broken Hand Pass, Crestone Needle, and Crestone Peak.
