Gotta love the San Juans! Ascended Sunshine and Redcloud via Sunshine's East Ridge from Mill Creek Trailhead. Returned via Sunshine. Lower part of the trail don't have a whole lot of snow, but there's enough snow on the upper portions of the trail (from about the last talus field crossing up) to warrant snowshoes. Brought mine and was glad I did. Wore snowshoes from the upper part of the trail until the lower section of the East Ridge. Boots were sufficient most of the way - though I did use microspikes on the upper part of the east ridge as there was some bullet-proof snow. Traverse from Sunshine to Redcloud has a lot of snow on the ridge. "Enjoyed" a short section of postholing up to the waist, but otherwise not too bad. Ended up crawling through parts of it on the return from Redcloud. Trench in place (though the upper portions got a little wind today so those tracks are probably finito) so go get 'em!
