2014-06-21  Hourglass Ridge from Lion Lakes  Climbed both Mount Alice and Chiefs Head from Wild Basin. Approximately a mile after the turnoff to Lion Lakes, we started encountering large snow drifts and streams running everywhere making it really difficult to stay on the trail. In hindsight, it had probably turned into a stream. Once on the ridge leading up to the saddle between Alice and Chiefs Head it is possible to stay off snow for most of the remainder of the hike (stay on the spine of the Hourglass Ridge). We did not end up using any traction but it could be helpful on the approach if the snow is hard. Wildernessjane   2014-06-24  0
