Rd. 390 was dry from highway 24 for about 3 or 4 miles. Snow appeared quickly, with 6" or so in places up to Winfield. Turning left at Winfield the road was snowpacked 10-12" over ice. I left my 4WD truck at Winfield & hiked the 2 miles to the trailhead. The trail to Huron was windblown & had 10-12" of snow, with deeper drifts in spots. Unless you‘re very familiar with the trail, you‘ll lose it within a mile.
I wouldn‘t go farther than Winfield unless you have a SERIOUS 4WD. With morning windchill temps at -10, digging out would be no fun.
