Buckskin Gulch Road is mostly dry all the way to Kite Lake Trailhead with only a few patches of snow near the bottom. Three rutted areas but if you take your time and choose your tire placement carefully you can make it up in a low-clearance 4WD vehicle without bottoming out.

How is snow coverage on Democrat? Do you think there's enough for snowshoes?

Not on the 19th

When I went up there was barely a couple of inches on some of the trail, and some of it was completely dry. I carried microspikes and used them on the steepest section on the way down only. With all the sun we've had, the snow is probably very sparse up there.
