This hike is touted as an “easy” 13er if you begin at the Loveland Pass parking lot. We drove up from I-70 and parked slightly down the other side of the Pass in one of several gravel pull-offs since parking is limited. There were quite a few people milling about taking pictures of the views at the parking lot and a few that actually appeared to be hiking Snikatu and/or Mt. Cupid.

After we made it up to around 12,900 ft, the smallish crowd had thinned out. We took a break alone relaxing behind a large rock wall and admired some rock art while our son climbed in another wind shelter nearby thinking a large bird had built a nest. We had a nice views but had yet to see the Summit of Sniktau so we continued on.

After reaching the false summit, which was a surprising distance – maybe, ˝ a mile (?) to the actual summit we decided to take another break behind a wind wall that was appreciated as it was becoming quite blustery. My son ate a Cosmic Brownie for strength and then hopped on my husband for a piggyback ride and we continued our brief descent downwards before the upward summit push.

We finally reached the top and had the summit to ourselves the entire time other than a swarm of bees and a few pika hiding in the rocks. We celebrated with a bag of Snickers.
An offering to Mt. Sniktau, which we then ate.

The hike down was very windy, and at the Wishbone, Bob decided to run over to Cupid Peak, and while I would have done it myself, I continued down with our son who seemed to be satisfied with his hike up Snikatu.
