 Little Browns Creek Marathon

Long day. Tried to bite off more than we could chew. Got a little lucky. Stayed calm. Learned a bit. Ate like a king.

That about sums up the day as we did a tour of the southern Sawatch big boys: Antero, Tabeguache, and Shavano.

I post yet another TR on peaks such as these because: #1 not many TRs show Little Browns Creek and #2 maybe you'll learn as I did.

My full trip report can be found here.

Little Brown's Creek

Glad the turn-off is well marked; it wasn't 10 years ago. That drainage is very charming, especially where the upper creek flows over all of the white rock. Its a good ”solitude” route up Antero, and the East ridge is an easy descent.

That is so bad ass I dont even know where to begin. Two questions, how do you train to do something like that and how do your knees and legs survive after running over all that rough ground.

We had some weather over Shav/Tab on Saturday that forced us to bushwhack the entire descent. Looking forward to seeing you tear it up at Pb in a couple months.

Your trip reports make me feel like a 300 pounder who sits on his couch, eats chips, and watches tv all day. Nice work man. We all learn from those above treeline storm experiences.

Yeah I barely drove farther than you were on foot this weekend. Thanks for more inspiration. Keep on running.

like a Doggler trip report to both inspire and awe- and make someone feel like a child. I agree about the Little Brown's Creek approach to Antero- longer, but much more pleasant, more solitude, and you avoid that 4x4 road. Did it as a one day hike last summer (no, I didn't run over and get the Bells just for some extra exercise!), and I don't know why it isn't used more often. I guess most people just look for ”standard” and go with it. Thanks, Doggler! I always enjoy your work!

Someone needs to donate some sunblock to him, or his next project will be melanoma.
