 A Religious Experience? (Halo Ridge)

We recently climbed Halo Ridge to Mt. of the Holy Cross. Thanks to all the people who have previously done this route and shared their beta with us in Trip Reports and Forum Posts and answered questions. Without this support I don't think I would have even attempted this route. It's the longest hike I've lugged the DSLR on. I am pleased with some of the results, but midday lighting conditions and smoke don't make for the most stunning photos.

We also made a trip out of it by blasting up my new favorite Easy hike, Shrine Mountain from Shrine Pass, and climbed a tiny rock formation which I dubbed "Mudstone Knob" (I know of no current name for it). It probably has more prominance than Cameron Peak.

If someone can ID these peaks, I'd appreciate it (looking W from Holy Cross):

Was going to do 'Orbital' as Roach calls it this year but not sure I'll get to it. Thanks for the great info and incredible pics.

The peaks you were asking about are all 12esr in the southern Mt Jackson Quad... PT 12977, ”Hammer”, PT 12980, PT 12935 and Middle are all visible. Hammer is the easiest to identify, its the one that has the really pointy summit with another pointy false summit to its right. I did a TR on those, search the TR section with ”Hammer” as the keyword and it will show up.

Super photos, Dan! One of my all-time favorite loop hikes! I'd love to get back there once more and hit it again! Thanks for the refresher!

Fantastic photos. I am very exited about this ridge.
Your pictures are right out of a guide book, very helpful to me.
Thank you.
