 Patagonia Climbing

Got the opportunity to finally head to Patagonia to do some climbing. Though things didn't turn out as I would've liked, I still got to climb some pretty cool stuff and I learned a lot. Humbling experience. We experienced the longest weather window the place has seen in a couple decades. Truly is a "World away from home" unlike any other place I've been too. Remote. Anyways, finally got the TR on my site and figured I'd share it.

Great pictures. This is a world I doubt I will ever get to visit, let alone climb, but thanks for letting me live vicariously through you. What an experience, what an opportunity!

Fantastic journey. Glad you got to climb some world class routes even if they weren't what you were hoping for.

Also, on a side note - I got the chance to climb with Kevin (Yale, June 2009) He was a heck of a kid. Glad to hear you kept going with your passion for climbing even after his accidents. It looks like you have done very well with it.

Just read your full TR straight through... sounds like an incredible experience. Patagonia has always been on the tip-top of my list of places I want to go (just to trek around because climbing on that level probably ain't going to happen at this point!) But wow, the logistics and difficulty of just getting there are formidable. So thanks for a chance to experience a bit of what it's like vicariously. Still hope to get there someday.

Amazing Stuff, Thanks!     2013-03-07 12:03:55
I thoroughly enjoyed the pics and your commentary Noah.

Seriously, work should block trip reports like this...they make me want to just walk out the door right now!

Funny you should say that - my work did block the blog! Dangit! Oh well, I'll have to check it out later - pics on this site look awesome.

All about the journey, at least you got down there. Me and some buddies did the PNW last spring. Was supposed to hit 6 volcanoes, only reached the summit of 2 and couldn't see anything on 1 of those. But the experience on Shasta was one for the ages. Sounds and looks like you had some stout climbs squeezed in to those weather windows regardless. Nice TR.

Thanks everyone!     2013-03-07 22:03:11
The place is wonderful! I think anyone should make it down there, even just for trekking. We made the travel time much longer. It was cheaper to fly where we did rather then El Calafete. Hint 5 or 6 days to get there... That being said, the travel experience doesn't have to be as stressful as we made it. I tend to go the cheaper way which still took a lot of saving!
