Last weekend I wanted to hit French Mountain to continue down my path of completing the Centennials, but the damn creek crossing was too strong.
Instead we hit the SW slopes of Massive. My 2nd time up that route, this time in summer. Not a very notable trip report, but figure some people might like the photos and a beta of the area.
I think it might be more passable now, but yeah, it was pretty deep. I have a 4 inch lift on my Jeep w/ 32's but maybe I'm just conservative, I did not want to risk it. The Toyota FJ did fine in the afternoon.
They say an FJ can handle up to 24 inches of water but I'm too chicken to try that much in mine. I am thinking I will likely try French sometime in late July or August.
a group and myself are heading out in Aug and plan to ascend Mt. Massive. We have been training hard and are super excited. Hoping you can shed some light on the trip details for me. I plan to ascend South Massive Trail but there is very little info online.
1. Are there any good maps to get or is the South trail pretty straight forward?
2. We are renting a car... can the trailhead be accessed by sedan?
The SW route trailhead is not accessible with a sedan but you could make it to the standard East slopes route that way, or hike further up the road to the 2nd TH for the SW slopes route.
Good luck.
