Holy Cross - North Ridge Route

Solo Hiker (34, male)

Departed TH: 5:35 AM
Passed Creek: 6:45 AM
Arrived Summit: 8:28 AM
Passed Creek: 10:05 AM
Arrived TH: 11:26 AM

Total RT Time: 5 hours, 51 minutes

Weather: High clouds, no rain, perfect day

Nature: Tons of mosquitos around creek and over Half Moon Pass

Tigiwon Road to TH: My Toyota Camry had no problem on the dirt road with the exception of one washed out section that lasts for about 10 feet; take it slow and you'll be fine.

This was a great solo hike focused on completion before noon (the forecast called for thunderstorms after 1pm). The trail traffic was light but the parking lot was full. Passed some CFI folks on the Northridge--so a shout out to all the great work they do--the trail was well marked the whole way up. The final summit pitch involved a bit more scrambling than anticipated--but still awesome.

Hillhag and I climbed Holy Cross from the creek (campsite #1) on Saturday morning, also a great day, back at our campsite by 11. However, the rains seem to come in at 2 or 3 every day (we camped for two nights), so slow starters, beware. The high ridge on HC has you out in the open for quite a long time if you are summitting after noon. Oh, yeah, take that skeeter spray!
