 Mt. Democrat - East Slope (My GF's 1st 14'er)

On Saturday, August 10th, 2013 Kerri and I headed west on HWY 24 for the Mountains. We were in pursuit of Kerri's 1st Fourteener - and had Democrat as the target. When we got there we couldn't have asked for better weather! We parked at the Kite Lake Campground trailhead, had a quick bathroom stop, and began our ascent at 9:17am. This was Kerri's 1st and only my 2nd but we were able to reach the summit at 11:15am. We couldn't have picked a better day, it was bluebird skies the entire time we were on the mountain - even with our late start. Our descent took us about an hour and then we headed to Fairplay for some much needed food and beers! I love how different each of these hikes/mountains are!
