 Lavender Couloir

Hiked Sneffels on 5/20/2014. Lavender couloir. Amazing! Loved it! I don't have much to say about the hike it's fairly easy if you are in good physical condition. The couloir does require a lot of strength, it's a pretty good incline. There is a lot of snow in the basin that gets very slushy in certain spots in the afternoon, and it causes you to sink through quite a bit! Even with snowshoes on! The snow is 4-5 feet deep in some areas. The road to Yankee boy basin lower trailhead was completely plowed, but it is in a rough shape on the last maybe mile, so if u don't have a high clearance vehicle( I have a ford escape and I hit few spots) I would not go any further than the last fork or split before the lower TH. I believe it's the 853 1B. You should park there and hitch a ride with someone in a more suitable vehicle!

Mt friend and I are planning to do Sneffels this weekend, I was wondering what gear you used as far as ice ax, cramp ons, and snow shoes. Looks like an amazing hike!
