North Face Ski Of Missouri Mtn

Since climbing up the Missouri Gulch Trail 2 years ago with halfdomer and flintster to climb Belford and Oxford, I wanted to return to ski something off the north face of Missouri Mtn. On June 7th I was able to accomplish that. Snow had receded a bit from the summit and the sun was on the ski face for a while, so it was decided that the "Y" couloir would be the ski de jour... My wife made it to the basin with our dog Wapiti and snapped some photos of us skiing down the face. This ski requires a pretty involved approach. But, as Chris Davenport mentioned in Ski the 14ers, "Missouri Mountain has one the finer north faces in the Sawatch". Several of the north face lines were still running as of June 7th, but the C & Y couloirs appear to have the best snow remaining.

Gaining the first ridge that we would climb to gain the main ridge. We would be skiing the line directly above me.
