 Kelso Ridge in bloom

Blog Post HERE

Grays Peak is one of the most popular 14ers in Colorado, seeing hordes of visitors every summer. It's close to Denver, it's relatively easy, and the scenery is nice. Just 100 yards off the beaten path, there begins a route that even a jaded 14er climber can't help but appreciate. Kelso ridge offers some exposure, some class 3 climbing, and a more direct route to the summit of Torreys Peak.

After battling a horrendous traffic jam right before the upper parking lot, we finally set off on our journey. This would be the 3rd time I climbed Grays, the 2nd time this year. It was worth the trip though, as we had great weather (although a little chilly!) and great flowers as well.
