A beautiful winter day was the perfect chance to head down south and climb California Peak in the southern Sangres. This gentle peak sits among some of the most beautiful spots in the state. See below for a link to the TR for anyone interested - thanks!

I thought that the views from California are some of the best I’ve seen – and your winter pics make it look even better. Guess I’m going to have to go after a snowflake on this one. I also like your west ridge route as it avoids the tons of false summits the north ridge route involves.

Btw, it has recently come to my attention that the snowshoe track you followed was created by none other than Ken Nolan. If you guys had stayed with that track in the valley just a bit farther, your could have cruised hard–pack to the summit.

Do you have a GPX file of your trip and if so, would you be willing to share?
