My Second 14er - Mt. Bierstadt

My first 14er was Gray's many years ago, when I was a teenager.

I hiked Bierstadt with my husband last fall, when I was 58 years old. It was harder than I expected, but I had not done a 14er for several decades. It was a Monday, but there were still quite a few people coming and going on the trail. We saw a few moose in the lake shortly after our start up. This peak has a register in a tube to add your hike date and your name.

Moose!

Nice job on your climb and I bet it was great to see the moose. I used to always encounter moose when hiking in the Tetons but have never seen them in CO. One time I was head to head with one and within 8’ of her when I rounded a tight, blind curve in the trail.
