Climbing the Peaks of the Lakes of the Clouds Basin

After focusing on mt biking the past couple months I was eager to hit the mountains again. Living at the foot of the Sangres I am drawn to them so I sought out another group of peaks to hit.
This time it was the summits around the Lakes of the Clouds near Westcliffe.
Spread Eagle PK
Peak of the Clouds (PT 13,524)
Silver Peak (PT 13,513)

There is no obvious route I found to climb Spread Eagle but solid rock makes the trudge straight forward. The descent from Peak of the Clouds is tricky and it's easy to get into class 4 terrain. I think the best line will be at least class 3. I have the full report and lots of pictures at my blog

For some reason I have my links never link from this blog so if it doesn't work when you click on it, copy and paste. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but I run into this on this website whenever I post a link.

I tried Spread Eagle a couple years ago, didn’t make the summit because I could not find a route once I got around 11,500 or so. I thought about giving it and some others a try from Lake of the Clouds....this report makes me want to give that area another shot. Thanks!!

Spread Eagle Peak

My dad and I ascended Spread Eagle Peak in 1997 by climbing Rito Alto Peak (13,794’), traversing the ridge to Unnamed 13,524B, and then following the long grassy ridge to Spread Eagle. We were camped along the Hermit Pass road, so we descended to the valley from Spread Eagle rather than going back over Unnamed 13,524B and Rito Alto.
