Redcloud-Sunshine with Bivvy on Top (Standard Route, Late Spring)

Hiked up Redcloud for a night on the summit under a full moon. Then over to Sunshine and back the next morning (6/20). I followed the "standard" route--NE Ridge to Redcloud, out and back to Sunshine, then back down the same way. Late spring/early summer conditions. Here is a link to my full trip report with nearly 40 photos: http://www.danieljoderphotography.com/14er-report-32-redcloud-and-sunshine-northeast-ridgetraverse-late-spring-conditions/

I want to head up this way but would be solo. How bad is the road to SC/GG trail compared to let's say 4th of July rd? I have a Ford Expedition but could switch with my husband and take his Subaru.

Love all your pictures BTW.

I did Handies on the 19th and Redcloud/Sunshine on the 20th. I drove an 06 outback all the way in with no problems.

For quick reply. And I have a Ford Edge, not Expedition whoops.

And that's an understatement. I really enjoyed your report and I am SO going to steal the "bag of anvils" line. Been there, done that - more times than I care to mention.

Thanks, Jay! I appreciate your comments. As to what vehicle to take to the trailhead, a Subaru is fine. I could have gotten my 1967 VW Kharmann Ghia up there, too, with just taking a bit of care here and there.
