 Noddle Heads for Deadheads

Truckin' got my chips cashed in, keep truckin', like the do-dah man
Together, more or less in line, just keep truckin' on

Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me,
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been

Noddle Heads, South a lowly 8260 elevation

Speaking of deadheads I should be about 5000 feet higher but upper respiratory ailments and ear infections the last three weeks have deadened my head. When you want to get high it helps somewhat to get somewhere

The warm temperatures have set in...so a soak is in order

Gearing up for the 5.2 climb, the pitch behind Scott up to the ledge is some Class 3 scrambling

Most of the cats that you meet on the streets speak of true love,
Most of the time they're sittin' and cryin' at home

Love the mountains of most any kind

Decided the better part of valor is to be prepared

The ledge
Image

Once at the ledge crawl up on it and scoot under the overhang onto somewhat exposed ramp like rock, the rock slopes off the west side where it goes fairly vertical

I borrowed a kbaker picture that shows the 5.2 section and crack, as you can see some don't need a rope on this climb, we used one so I could get in some work

I led the way and am looking down to the fairly level spot where Scott is standing

Noddle Heads, North (unranked but a 5.7)

I took a look down at the route below where you get to the ledge, you can rap over this way too but not as good on the rope

We added another sling to two that were there just for the next 3 or 4 people to make it up there this year and started the rap

one last look before we leave All a friend can say is "Ain't it a shame?"

Truckin', I'm a goin' home Whoa whoa baby, back where I belong
Back home, sit down and patch my bones, and get back truckin' on

followed the trail and then the road out whereas we cut a bit of the road off on the way in

5.4 miles and 900 feet

Since I've seen someone write about these? A great place to scramble and climb. Hope to see a report on North soon! Beau Know's!!

We put a jar up there years ago and now it has grown into an ammo box! How many people have been up there since?

to some climbers for their comments, appreciated

I had Noddle on my list for a little while as I only had two ranked Douglas County peaks left, Big Rock Candy Mountain being the other 5.7-5.9? Nice little climb with some exposure but solid rock

There is only 6 or so people a year on the register that is there now

Got BRCM too, very nice! That and the Turret are the only ones I never got in DC.

I may get the Candy at some point. I have talked to the young guy I have hiked a lot with (who will remain nameless, is a prolific climber and on 14ers.com)about it and maybe one of these days try to nab that
