 Mount Bross - 5/24/05

I climbed Bross this morning. Nothing exciting to report as it is a very un-exciting mountain. I have never seen such a flat summit! You could play football up there.

My plan was to traverse the whole cirque and hit Democrat and Lincoln as well then finish off with Buckskin. My plan went downhill when I got to Kite Lake and realized I left my foodbag in the car! I was too unmotivated to go back and get it so I figured I would go up and climb what I could until I got unbearably hungry. I had a gallon of gatorade in my drom bag so at lesat I had about 800 calories of sugar there. I summited Bross and pulled out my camera to photograph one of the most amazing shots I have ever seen. A full moon with the sunrise lighting up the peaks pink. Well, surprise surprise, I left the memory card sitting in the printer and missed one of my best photo ops ever.

I had planned to go tag Lincoln even without food as that traverse looked super easy but the camera mishap made me change my mind. Taking photos is one of my main joys of climbing the peaks so at that point I decided to call the climb "excercise" and head back down. Oh well, it was still a great sunrise to watch up at 14k.
