 Evans/Bierstadt - via Guanella Pass & Sawtooth

Left Denver with my friend, Adam, at 4:00 am and drove to Guanella Pass trailhead via U.S. 285. Arrived on Bierstadt summit somewhere around 8:00. Descended east slopes of Bierstadt, crossed Sawtooth and climbed Mt. Evans. Descended on the scree slope Roach talks about being evident from Guanella Pass trailhead. The scree slope is somewhat nasty, so I would probably recommend staying high on Mt. Spaldings slopes and descending Spaldings northwest slopes instead of the scree slope.

This trip was epic. Perfect weather and the Sawtooth is a wonderful challenge. I would highly recommend a July or August climb of these two peaks via the Sawtooth. The diagonal part of the ridge appears nasty, but isnt nearly as bad as it looks. It was a fun ridge traverse, and I didnt think there was much danger to it, when dry.
