 Wilson Peak- Silver Pick Basin

Add your trip report here... Still quite a bit snow above 11500‘. No crampons, no ice axe, no summit. Made it to the base of Rock Of Ages Saddle. Without proper equiptment had to turn back. Still had a great time, as I was the only one on the moutain. Will try again soon.

Skasgaard: I never made it to the top of the saddle, only the base. I tried to post some pics, but I‘m not that good with the computer. There seems to be a family of 5 or 6 marmots at the rock house and you‘re right, it is a gorgous spot. Jack

I‘m planning on going to do the Wilson Group this weekend, whats the deal with Silver Pick Basin- is it open for public use? I called Forest Service and they said it is closed.

Good attempt at Wilson to get to Rock of Ages but why did you turn around?
You don‘t need crampons or an axe to reach the summit for Wilson Peak. If you reached the saddle from Silver Pick, with the snowfield there on the north side, how‘d you get down without an axe?
If you can post some pics! That is one hell of a beautiful place!
Did you see any marmots? One of them owes me a new pair of poles!
