Climbed Bierstadt today from the Guanella Pass TH and had a thoroughly enjoyable time despite the traffic. Bierstadt is an interesting peak. It's incredible popularity makes it a very unpleasant experience for those that like solitude of any kind. While I don't like to be the only person on the mountain, Bierstadt is nearly out of control on the weekends. There had to be at least 200 people on the mountain today. The summit register is completely filled and the summit population at 10:40am was probably close to 50 people. Having said that, I find the beauty of Bierstadt and the views from it to be amongst the best.
We drove up from the 285 side of Guanella Pass and were on the trail just after 7am. It was 47 degrees which was very pleasant. We were on the summit at 10:40am. Could have made it much sooner but took our time and enjoyed the hike. So often I get the impression that some are just there to "Bag a Peak", charging up the mountain and down as if making it in the shortest time possible was a badge of honor. I find much more enjoyment by taking time during the hike to savor the moment(s). Sorry for the rant, just had to get that off my chest.

Image taken about 1.2 miles into the hike after leaving the willows for the most part. I should also point out that the Willows with the Boardwalk are a complete non factor. The few muddy sections that did exist were easily passed.
Final stretch to the summit. Easy class 2.
