There she was, arriving at the trailhead. I could tell she was inexperienced but willing, you know how those shy ones are.
I lead her up the easy way (east side), not hard but nice and easy.
As time went on she became more confident in herself and I new should wanted to go all the way.
As she got closer and closer, her freind and campanion yelled, Your almost there!
and as she reached the top she yelled I have Summitted!!!!
by M. Quandary
All kidding aside, when I was loading up at the TH and you two past me I thought, Well I can catch up to those two and have someone to talk to for awhile, WRONG! You two hauled butt up that Mnt. to say the least. Only way I could catch you two was you had to stop and put on sweaters and eat. Merideth, for your 1st 14er and doing this mnt. in 4.5 hours is fantastic, way to go. Britney, what can I say about a lady who gets up in the morning and does a 14er before she goes to work at 11:30 - geez you mnt. women are one of a kind. I will try to stop in and have a brew next time I'm hiking in the area, wont order the onion rigns or Quandary burg!
Quandary was not much more than a pile of rocks, but a nice hike. This mnt. is not dog friendly, I would rate it a 2 with no dog shoes and a 3 with dog shoes (I bring set with me just in case), you need dog shoes here! There is no additional water spots along the way so bring extra for your dog.
All in all it was a beautiful day, windy and cool on top but otherwise another great day in Colorado!
