 Mount Tweto Southwest Ridge

Mount Tweto - 13672
Rank - 162
Mosquito Pass Road Start
10+ miles
2700 feet +/-
Class 1 with the final pitch Class 2 (loose rock and a bit steeper)

A short summer hike - add 5.4 miles from the Mosquito Pass Road at County Road 12.

4.5 miles north of Fairplay and 1 mile south of Alma take County Road 12 west (there is a sign for Mosquito Pass). The road is plowed. Take the right fork at approximately 4.5 miles from Highway 9. This is the Mosquito Pass Road. Park here as the road is drifted in and not passable any farther than 100 feet off of the county road.

Hike up the road past the buildings on the left

and north past the Mosquito Pass Road.

Arkansas to the north. I wanted to hit Arkansas also but with the longer approach and fighting 25-30 mile headwinds all the way up I decided against it. The winds were gusting to 40-45 miles an hour. One mile over and one mile back on the ridge could have been a long one. My dog agreed.

Sunny but windy.

I have done Buckskin but if you want to hike Arkansas let me know. I will be looking at that in the next few weeks. Also Evans B which goes off of the same County Road 12.

You had a sweet day despite the winds, Piper!
How‘d your dog do? Paws ok?
Some killer pictures. I agree with mark, I also need all three of those peaks.

Kiefer I have taken that dog and another (both kelpies)on at least 50 13ers and 14ers, as well as snowshoe hikes and have never had a problem with their feet.
