Peak(s):
East Twin Sister Peak - 11428
West Twin Sister Peak - 11413
Unnamed Pk - 11376

Vertical: 3000 ft
Mileage: 9 miles
I've been wanting to bag these peaks for awhile now and having waited through the last five weekends of crummy weather it was good to get above treeline again, albeit just barely. At only 11,428 feet this hike is a fairly strenuous one, particularly with a little snow/ice on the trail. Kudos to Jen again for her great spirit on this hike, having just recently gotten bitten by the high altitude hiking bug - even with the rather slushy/slippery conditions below tree line. Having left my map at the house I was a little clueless (more than usual) about what peaks were the sisters. Adam and I hit Westerly Sister first, although there was no summit register visible. I then decided, based on some input from another climber that we met just above treeline, that the easterly sister (for some reason I thought they were North and South, not E-W) was my next target. As I found out later looking at my topo this peak turned out to be Unnamed Pt 11376 (from our vantage point on the West Sister this peak actually looked higher to me - go figure). About a ½ hour later I was on Pt 11376 which actually provided some really great Class 3 (perhaps Class 4 for a short section) climbing via a rib on the west face. Pt 11376 actually has a small windbreak but I didn't see a summit register. At that point I could better tell that I had missed the Easterly Sister so I descended to the saddle and within 15-20 minutes I was signing the register on the taller twin. This extra foray likely added 500 +/- ft and ½ mile to the outing. No snow shoes are needed right now although hiking poles come in handy for balance as the snow is packed down and rather slippery at times. It's also worth pointing out that the gate was up so we were able to park fairly close to the TH.
