 French Mountain - East Face/Slopes

Climbed the East Face/Slopes of French Mountain on Saturday. We knew the valley was full of rotten snow so we opted to cut up the east face from a point about 3/4 mile above the second stream crossing/4WD trailhead.

The crossing of halfmoon Creek was a challenge as the water was mid thigh deep and the log bridge, if it is still there, was well under water. A strip to U/w and Tevas crossing for us (brrrr) Road to second stream crossing was dry. Second stream crossing logs were there and absolutely needed to cross, otherwise no way on Saturday. Road for next 3/4 mile was dry. Cut across creek and beaver pond to mixed talus slope and up to basin, on up a snow slope to summit ridge and summit. Avoided all the rotten snow.

The usual trip narrative with photos can be found at French Mountain

A few teaser photos of course:

French Mountain. Those stream crossings look like a real treat!
