 A photo journey.

This is really more of a photo journey than a trip report. This is a link to a website that I use to share photos from my hikes with family and friends back home. I did try to put captions with some photos that go along with the route Roach describes in his 13er book. I decided to post this due to the small number of trip reports for these peaks at this time of year. I hope this is helpful for anyone headed up these mountains or entertaining if just taking a look. This was a really fun hike/climb at a hidden gem in the Sawatch.

Nice trip report and pictures...     2010-07-22 20:10:13
I summited North Apostle and attempted Ice Mountain solo about a month ago and ran into snow and ice on the crux couloir. Being alone and having left my crampons in the garage, I backed off. It looks like it is clear now though...

Those peaks are out of character for the Sawatch huh? I thought I was in the Elks or San Juans there for a few minutes...

Oh and FYI for anyone thinking of trying Apostle/Ice, Gerry Roach's description on the approach is way off as is his description of Ice's northwest ridge. Definitely Class 4, not Class 3.

A hidden gem, indeed! With cooperative weather, why didn't you include West Apostle?

Kaiman: Agree, that finish on Ice is class 4.
cftbq: I reached my goals for the day and was happy. Save West Apostle for another time perhaps.
