Help with research paper - snowpack

Postby chick-a-dee » 27 Jan 2013, 09:48

Hi all,

I'm doing a research paper for a hydrology class and would like to include a pic of any 14er now versus 2 or 3 years ago. Specifically, I'm looking for a pic taken from the same angle of the same 14er in the same month, just different years. I'm trying to show lack of snow, earlier melting of snowpack, etc. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't have any 14er pics but I am privy to all of Wolf Creek Ski Area's snow data for the last several years, if that helps.

Research for pictures of Snowmass and it's famous east face. Should help you out.

Thanks to both of you. Yes, I'll take info on Wolf Creek, and I will research Snowmass right now.

Just in case you don't already have 2 pictures that show more snow and later melting in recent years for your paper.....

I'm sure it's out there although I'm having trouble locating it, but there should be plenty of webcam still-frames or pictures taken from Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs offering what you're looking for. If I find it (right now, Google is basically giving pictures of the International Hill Climb) I'll post it here.

Here's a pair for you, one of them taken by me last fall:

Castle/Conundrum snowfield, 9/3/2011, from this trip report by Tony1. You'll want to contact him for permission to use it.
