Agreed, this is fun:

- Mountain Town=Telluride for the beauty, town itself is OK. Ouray is nice too, less pretentious I suppose.

- Place to eat in Mountains? Place to eat in Front Range? = Depends on the occasion, the company, hard to answer that one.

- Gear Shop = Mostly online; usually cheaper and I'm super picky about gear. For an unusual piece of gear, probably Neptune. For simple replacements (slings, rap material, Cytomax) the closest REI, whatever.

- Ski Resort? Sidecountry area? Backcountry area? = Go ahead and give me crap, but I like Loveland in good conditions. Cheap, accessible, a nice day area, variety of terrain. Great for my kids too. I gave up BC skiing, just use BC skis for gear hauling to the base of climbs now.

- 14er = Non-US: The Matterhorn; US: Longs

- 13er (Carl Dowdy is exempt from having to answer this one) = Lizard Head

- 12er = Peak 12,740, a beautiful scramble (5.0) in the Sangres. Gorgeous valley.

- peak below 12k = Squaretop (no, not the one by Bierstadt, the obscure one by Pagosa Springs, easiest route is 5.7).

- Range = San Juans, just so pretty down there.

- Basin = Ruby; Lone Eagle Cirque is a tie

- Wilderness Area = Weimenuche (sp??)

- overall outdoor company = Ortovox or Beyond for clothing, BD for hardware; PHD Software or Nunatak for down goods. Sorry, "overall" trends toward mediocrity  .

- vehicle for the mountains = someone else's 4WD...pleeease with a skilled driver!

- place to backpack = See above, San Juans

- Campground = anywhere reasonably scenic with no bugs, quiet, a stream for my kids to play in, my wife and some comfy chairs and wine...

- free car camping spot = Nat'l Forest land pullouts, lotsa those come to mind. The Cimarron Valley by Ridgeway is very hard to beat.

- outdoor crag for sport climbing? Trad climbing? = I like Clear Creek Canyon for sport, South Platte or alpine for trad.

- Alpine route = In the US? If so, probably one of the Longs trade routes.

- Lake = Jackson Lake, Grand Teton, tied with Mirror Lake, Lone Eagle cirque.

- Book on climbing (can be a guidebook as well) = Annapurna.

- Concert Venue? Favorite Show? = I have kids in elementary school, so not much comes to mind. That said, we've gone to a show at the Botanic Gardens and liked that.

- Scenic Byway = Probably Hwy 550

- Highway/Road Pass? Mountain Pass? = Red Mountain. Fond memories of the Iron Horse Classic bike race there.

Greg, what about that free spot above Ouray? The one you pulled the camper up a few years back? The one with the super steep road?

This is what's scary about the internet. You can never know everything you've said or when/where you said it. In any event, I don't recall the name of that spot but I had a camper so that doesn't count. Besides, it wasn't a favorite since I couldn't turn around and had to have another vehicle pull my car and camper up the damn road.
