Sounds like your training is spot on, I think Colorado 14ers are the best training for Rainier, you should do great. RMI is a great company with great guides.

Grandma did Rainier last year with Pops. I am not disclosing ages, but she is eligible for Medicare.

The 17 hour summit day involved lots waiting at various bottleneck etc... Here is my go-pro video of last years climb (around August 23). It was extremely unusual route conditions, it was my seventh trip and I have never seen it like this. It was really fun, except for all the waiting around. Don't let it spook you, as both my wife (grandma) and my daughter summited and it was their first attempt.

Not as young as I once was and not as old as I want to be.

My son had a great time on Rainier when he was 10. The main frustration was waiting for slow parties in front of us on the Cleaver. The route is essential class 1 with a couple class 2 moves. The guide services put up such a perfect highway to the peak.

So how did it go Deters? How did it compare to the Colorado 14ers you hiked?
