Winter camping around Yellowstone?

Post by GregMiller »

Pondering taking a drive up to the Yellowstone NP area between Christmas and New Years, and was wondering what suggestions folks might have for winter camping around Yellowstone. I'm planning to take my dog with me, so camping within the park isn't really an option. I'll have my 4 season tent, and plenty of sleeping bag, so should stay warm enough.

Also, any tips for touring trails in areas around Yellowstone and on the way there and back?
Still Here

North entrance (Montana) is only car reachable part in the winter.
You can snowshoe, ski, snowmobile, or hire a snow-taxi some of the winter months.
Some parts of the Old Faithful area reopen deep winter.
