They must be filming another reality show up there.
Is this the Americans fault for needing a fixed rope, or is it the real climbers fault for being on the standard route?

Serious situation, but you have to appreciate some of the commentary:
Lee Cujes Knowing climbers, I bet it's not the first time guys have been stoned on Everest

150 would be a formidable opponent, even if it was leprechauns or munchkins.

Very ugly situation. Sounds like the sherpa was having a bad day.

By first causing the Sherpas to go on strike, and then doing their job for them by fixing some of the lines, Steck was both embarrassing them and probably costing them money. I'm not surprised they were so angry at him. You don't mess with a man's livelihood.

Can you imagine even trying to fight at 24,500ft? The article makes it sounds like the Sherpa's were at fault. . . . but then again don't all articles blame the Sherpas?

Wow
You always hear about the Sherpa being the humblest and nicest people. It sounds like a few bad ones could have tarnished the name "Sherpa" on Everest for a while. It seems like each year Everest becomes more and more of a $h!t show. So sad

You cannot seriously condone lynching somebody over the Sherpas' alleged grievances. And imagine how many of them would lose their jobs if the Sherpas' image would go from nice and humble to an angry mob, causing way fewer tourists to pay to get dragged up Everest.Jim Davies wrote:By first causing the Sherpas to go on strike, and then doing their job for them by fixing some of the lines, Steck was both embarrassing them and probably costing them money.
