Wow! Very impressive. Good job Alan!!
I would rather sit on a mountain and think about God than sit in church and think about the mountains.

Yesterday I was reading Ed Viesturs' latest book "The Mountain" on Everest and noticed that he cites Alan's Everest data several times, referring to him as "the respected Everest chronicler".

Congratulations to Alan and his team, looks like they're making steady progress on the descent and have reached Camp 3 (~7300m as of his last SPOT). Wishing everyone a safe return!

Status of a badass....achieved. Congratulations! I hope to climb with you one day to hear of your Himalaya experiences.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

Hooray Alan! I'm so looking forward to your telling us all about it! (Once you get a chance to "catch your breath".)
