I second - or third - the advice to tackle something else besides Castle. Castle is as close to a class 3 as a class 2 gets. The ridge has some decent exposure and route finding is a little sketchy. The final summit pitch is on steep, loose, crappy talus. At least its short. This time of year the descent from the saddle is an ugly mess.
If you're just looking to get some class 2 climbs under your belt, I'd recommend Yale or Harvard. Even Massive or La Plata would suffice (one of my favorite!). Castle is a good warm up to class 3 peaks, as well as the Elks' wonderful rock reputation.
First class 2, any advice?

- I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was blaming you.

That's a lot like hiking alone which I wouldn't recommend. Your friend could be nearly worthless if something happens to you. Everyone in your group should study the route, carry a map & compass/gps, etc.ethanc41 wrote: I am going with a friend but he is doing very little to learn the route.
