Beginner on Mt. Sneffels
I am a beginner and am planning on hiking Mt. Sneffels from Yankee Boy Basin. Just wanted to get some feedback on whether or not a beginner can summit this....???

Yes, it was one of my first peaks in the state. Actually my 2nd, followed by Wetterhorn the same day. Keep your eyes on the prize!

Bring a helmet and wear it. Lots of loose rock, and lots of people to kick down loose rock.

Re: Beginner on Mt. Sneffels
Don't know how that past couple weeks have changed things, but I was up there June 25th and there was lots of snow in the couloir you turn left onto from the saddle. You need to climb up that before exiting into the notch. I definitely made use of my ice ax and microspikes heading up that portion. Don't know when you plan on getting there, but something to keep in mind.
Edit: Per this 7/3 conditions report, sounds like there is not as much snow there, but still some that needs to be crossed: http://14ers.com/php14ers/peakstatus_en ... ecnum=3500
