Our group of 8 guys was able to summit on 1/2/09, just before the thunder/snow storm moved in. They went up the SE ridge w/microspikes, trekking poles, some had ice axes. They were able to get the train down to mt view. If it wasn't available they would of waited it out and hiked down. They were appropriately equiped. Tom has done it at least 10 times on New Years. He has summited in all sorts of winter weather.
