Winfield TH in Winter?

Post by randalmartin »

Don't see any trip reports for Huron in Winter. Anyone know how close you can get to Winfield in the Winter? My guess is that unless you have a sled you won't get within miles of it so just looking for confirmation.

I tried once in the dead of winter (I put chains on a 4wd Ranger) and only made it to the Missouri Gulch TH. There was too much snow past there. Haven't been there this season though. :?:
We did not think of the great open plains, the beautiful rolling hills, and winding streams... as "wild". Only to the white man was nature a "wilderness".

It's on my winter list.

Love to find someone crazy enough to ski into it with me.

(Likely, this will be a solo trip.)

I made it to the trailhead a few yrs. back, and last yr. did not even
get close. We are going to head up this weekend so hopefully the road will
be well packed to get to TH.

I'm not up for Huron in winter but I'd do Belford Oxford in winter. If I can find someone crazy enough

I got Huron in the best conditions I could possibly hope for
