Pikes Peak

Anyone been up the Barr Trail in the last couple days? If so how was the trail? Specifically: is the trail visible near on the way to the peak? Thanks!

Not sure about Barr Trail, but we went up the Crags trail yesterday and had a great time. There's a good trail packed in the snow that will get you to Devil's Playground. From there, the trail is harder to find, but you can easily pick your way up to the ridge leading to the road.

I was up from Crags on Tuesday. Until about 11K feet, the trail was easy to follow (unless they got a lot more snow today than we did in Castle Rock, it should still be easy to make out). At about 11K feet, there were lots of trails cutting off from snowshoers and skiers. I never did figure out which one was the right one, but just enjoyed myself making my way up to the ridge. From Devils Playground to Pikes, the trail was virtually impossible to find, but you could either pick your way across the rocks or just follow the road. I just used microspikes, never needed snowshoes, and didn't even need the microspikes for about a third of the climb.

Again, not sure how much snow they got today, that could change things a little.

was on the peak yesterday morning for training. At least 3 new inches fell before we left around noon, and it should have snowed up there all day.

It's definitly getting some snow right now. I might go up part of the crags side later today.
