Has anyone been up Guanella pass recently from the Georgetown side?
How far from the pass do you have to start walking/skiing?
Recent conditions on the route up Bierstadt? Is there enough snow
to ski? Thanks, PB

Re: Bierstadt/Guanella conditions?
I was under the impression that the Georgetown side is still closed.

OK - yes, I am seeing that the road is closed at Clear Lake, which is quite a ways below
the pass. What about coming from the south - is it still passable to Duck Lake?

Based on this trip report http://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=7666" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (climb date 1/30/2010) they were able to get to Duck Lake.

Re: Bierstadt/Guanella conditions?
I was up there on 6 Feb. The road is snowpacked to Duck Lake but most cars could make it with little problems. From Duck Lake to the summer trailhead was snowpacked until you hit the top of the pass. On the Mt the snow varies from a few inches to a few feet. I'm not a skier but high up on the Mt your ski lines would be limited due to the rocks but I guess it could be done.
It took us 35 mins from Duck Lake to the summer trailhead, the grade is gentle in 14ers standards
