Yup, that's it in much leaner conditions. You can see how it hits the North Ridge about 2/3 of the way to the summit.MikeyC wrote:In the bottom photo, is that the north couloir to the left of the climber? Those do look like fun routes!

Re: fun scrambly spring 14er route
Kieners on Longs is indeed an awesome route with a little bit of everything, but the Chock, Chimneys, and sometimes the Diamond Step is protected... at least protected by those not in the realm of TGC category! The price of failure for pro pieces on Kieners would be in the "severe consequences" category. Not to understate the damage a fall on these other routes might inflict. Now that I think of it, it IS April 1, so I don't even think that was a serious suggestion.
Benners, I just re-read your trip report on Kieners, that must've been pretty sweet with the clouds the way they were!!! I'd much rather have those conditions than the thunderstorms that chased us across the boulder field after finishing that climb!!! What a fine route Kieners is.
I was eyeballing that couloir and ridge routes on Democrat when I was on the Clinton, Traver, McNamee trio...both climbs have some close to Denver drool factor! Nice pics!
Another good one looked to be a couloir and ridge (mostly separate routes, as on Democrat) on Arkansas. They are on the hit list, but the hard part is which one first! :D
Anyway, have fun Catallus

. . .Now, after the hours of torment . . . I have nothing more to do than breathe . . .I am nothing more than a single, narrow, gasping lung, floating over the mists and the summits.

I have to agree with Benners that the N Face of Democrat looks fun and I bailed with two friends last fall on Democrat's N ridge (crap snow and they were both VERY GREEN). We were up there in that basin for a full day and never saw anyone. Wonderful area to explore.
