The South Colony Lakes

Post by ColoradoSherpa »

I was looking at the trailhead info for the South Colony Lakes road and it states that the winter closure is 2.5 miles below the rainbow trail junction. Does anyone know if the winter closure is in effect or is it still open? Last update was almost a month ago, anyone have any idea as to the current conditions?

I don't think it is a matter of physical closure but that they don't maintain the road at all above the lower parking area. There has been almost no snow down off the mountain so I wouldn't be surprised if it is still accessible but your best bet is to contact the FS office.
