Bierstadt/Evans/Sawtooth call for conditions

Post by mountainmicah83 »

Does anyone have any recent beta photos of the guanella pass area, and the west side of Evans and Bierstadt?

Thanks.

I was up there on 12/26. Is that recent enough for you? If so, let me know and I will send you some pics.

We were up there today, managed to get my 4WD Explorer about 9.5 miles from Grant, about 4 miles from the trailhead. Road is getting pretty well covered past the about 7 miles. We got stuck twice trying to get in and out but managed to eventually get through. There were tire tracks almost the winter gate, but you need a really high clearance vehicle and really good tires. I think most vehicles will probably be parking between 7 and 9 miles.

Good luck

The snow is deep and unconsolidated from the trailhead to the base of Bierstadt. Count on some postholing with snowshoes (sigh).
